Why Learn JavaScript in 2024?
Why JavaScript is the top programming language to learn in 2024 for high-paying, in-demand jobs in web development and beyond.
JavaScript is one of the most popular programming languages out there. It dominates web development by powering both client-side interactions in browsers and server-side applications through Node.js.
As you can see, according to the latest developer survey on Stack Overflow and also in the latest updates in Statista, JavaScript is the most widely used language among developers.
Major Companies Rely on JavaScript
Major companies like Google, Meta, Netflix, and countless others rely on JavaScript to build their complex web applications.
It is also the most demanded programming language according to research from the last year.
In total, more than 900,000 jobs were available by the end of 2023, and by now, this may be even more. This is based on job postings on major platforms like LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, and others.
This includes front-end, back-end, and full-stack developer roles. You can choose your path and which one you prefer, but JavaScript is now the most demanded programming language overall.
Salary Statistics
Now, let’s look at some salary statistics. The average JavaScript developer salary is above $100k per year.
This is based on the US market. Looking at Glassdoor, you can see that the typical range is 115k-212k, which is how much an average developer earns in the US.
If you are from Europe, the average JavaScript developer salary in Europe is $106,208/year.
You can also look at We Work Remotely, which mostly offers remote developer jobs. The base salary here starts at $60k, and the maximum can be $240k per year.
Obviously, this number may be much higher if you’re working for FAANG companies, but you can set your area here in Glassdoor and see how much that number is for your specific area.
Location Independence
But your location doesn’t really matter nowadays as most of the developer jobs are remote.
And especially after COVID, companies don’t really care about your location, and most of the developer roles are remote.
But still, you can check this for your area and see how much this number is in your case.
